Make Lists, My Dudes
STORY TIME!
I created this list when we first moved to Barcelona in January 2022. My situation was kind of in a limbo, only had 90 days each Schengen visa and so @bboidagasuan and I decided to really aim for residency to save on time, cost and hassle. But more on that part later.
Because the universe oftentimes like to play tricks on you, testing you to the limit that the passport didn’t arrive in time for my supposed one-way ticket🛫.
So I booked a ferry to Manila to bug 🐞 the agency but I couldn’t get an answer.
By then, I resigned to the idea that I should just make the most out of my time in our home country. One doesn’t really need to fly out to create new experiences right?
After leaving the embassy, with a hint of fuming anger deep inside haha!, I did the following:
- buy a loft bed 🛏️ and mattress for my brother @okkrems and @noreen_vicenal’s apartment so I can make Quezon City my layover/jumpoff point going to surf spots
- take sailing ⛵️ classes at Subic this weekend
- take a bus to the surf town of Pagudpud, book a campsite 🏕️ and hut 🛖 accommodation for two weeks
- rent a badass bike! 🏍️ explore Ilocos Norte
- work for an NGO as Grants and Partnerships Manager for a field close to my heart: capacity building/sustainability
It was going so well! Until: on the same day I said yes to the job, the embassy says: YOUR PASSPORT IS READY! 😒
OK then, back to the list. So here I am, savoring donuts 🍩, drip coffee ☕️ and cleaning up to-do lists that include cancelling reservations 🤦🏽♀️ and figuring out what to bring for my flight as I seem to have forgotten the system. I haven’t flown out of the country since January 2023!
The morale of this long ass story is that, sometimes we forget how much we’ve accomplished because we are so hell bent focused on only one goal. But you see, can’t believe I actually was a doer 😂
I mean, look at the list mydudes! The list!
So make lists, doesn’t matter where you put it just make one.
Un saludo,
